Second Data Collection

From the end of 2024 to the end of 2025 as part of the second data elicitation, film recordings will be made of young people (*1993-2007) from all over Germany who are competent in German Sign Language. The recordings with 2 people each will take place in the studio at the Institute of German Sign Language in Hamburg. We currently search for more participants. For more information, please see our News page or have a look at our Interactive Map.

User Servey

Our goal is to make the dictionary match the expectations of the linguistic community and other user groups. Therefore a user survey was carried out from May through November 2011, to which approx. 1000 deaf/Deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened and hearing persons contributed.

The user survey is closed, which means our DGS-Feedback system is no longer available. Thanks to all the contributors!

First Data Collection

From January 2010 to March 2012 we collected sign language data from 330 sign language competent deaf/Deaf persons from all over Germany. The filming sessions were carried out with two informants each in a mobile studio in 12 locations all over Germany.

This data collection is finished. We would like to thank all contact persons and all of the informants!

DGS-corpus-team at the 7th Cultural Days of the Deaf in Friedrichshafen 2024

The DGS-corpus-project had its own booth at the 7th Cultural Days of the Deaf in Friedrichshafen. Visitors were very interested and many took the opportunity to have the DW-DGS explained to them. In addition, recordings for a survey on the topic of sign names were conducted at the booth. The days were characterized by valuable encounters, enriching exchanges and the diverse cultural program. We are delighted that we were able to take part in this event.

Joint picnic in Planten un Blomen

On July 10, 2024, we once again took advantage of our location right next to Planten un Blomen and organized a picnic with students from the DGS-corpus-project. Everyone chatted and laughed a lot and also showed full commitment in the Kubb game. The weather played along and so we would like to say a big thank you to our students, without whom the project would not be what it is. Thank you.
