Note on Accessibility

This note on accessibility applies for the domain meine-dgs.de (or sign-lang.uni-hamburg.de/meinedgs).

Universität Hamburg seeks to make its websites fully accessible to people with disabilities. This process is based on the Hamburg act on equal treatment for disabled persons (Hamburgisches Gesetz zur Gleichstellung behinderter Menschen, HmbGGbM) and the ordinance on barrier-free information technology (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0).

This site provides services to users of German Sign Language. This implies a high degree of visual materials.

We are happy of course about any visitors with low vision and want to provide good accessibility to them as well. Therefore, we provide alternative texts for the videos on this site:

We are well aware that the Hamburg Notation System primarily is a research tool and less suited for occasional users trying to identify the form of a sign. We are working on preparing an automatic translation from HamNoSys in English descriptions.
