Welcome to DGS-Corpus
The DGS Corpus project is a long-term project of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg for documenting and researching the German Sign Language (DGS). The goal is to collect sign language texts from Deaf people and to present parts of them as a corpus to the public. Within the 15 years runtime, a DGS - German dictionary will be developed on the basis of the corpus-data. The corpus is supposed to be representative for the everyday speech of Deaf people all over Germany.
The DGS Corpus project takes place at the Institute for German Sign Language and Communication of the Deaf at the University of Hamburg. The project is financed by funds of the academy programme which are borne by the federal government and the federal states (Länder).
